Class length
45 minutes

A fun, engaging class, learning the different ceili dances and history of the Irish Dance vocabulary.

Ceili in Irish Dance, in its basic form, means a “social visit.” Historically, ceilis were social dances in Ireland, traced back to as early as the 1500’s. Some of these dances are performed in a straight line, while others are performed in various formations, such as a circle or a square. Learning basic steps, ceili dances are performed in different formations, working with partners, performing a repeatable phrase matching traditional Irish Dance Music. Ceili’s studied in class may include Walls of Limerick, 4-hand-reel, 8-hand reel, The Siege of Ennis, and many more of the 30 official ceili dances in Irish Dance.

This class is open to anyone, as there is no Irish Dance experience needed to learn steps and perform in the formations. All you will need are comfortable clothes, socks or bare feet, and a willingness to learn and try a new dance style!

We welcome children and adults (Bigs & Littles) into this class or you are welcome to dance solo!
